Natural Dye Workshop

April 22, 2017

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

1001 N North Branch Street, 60642

Join us for a natural dye workshop celebrating Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day, we’re hosting a natural dye workshop with the textile experts behind Runway Addicts. We’ll start by showing you how to use everyday objects (like fruits, plant leaves, teas, coffee) to create a variety of dyes – from vivid blues and reds to soft pinks and yellows. Next, you’ll experiment and apply your dyes to different materials. Bring some objects from home that you’d like to add color to – such as, t-shirts, tea towels, or ceramic pots. At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with samples of each dye so you can continue to experiment with them.

Supplies included:
• Gloves
• Fabric dyes
• Pots
• Water
• Fabric swatches

Please bring:
• Objects that you want to imbue with your dyes! The dyes work best with natural materials (think 100% cotton t-shirts, terracotta pots, silk hanky, or even your Chuck Taylor’s). You bring it, we’ll try it!
• Also, wear clothes and shoes that can get a little messy.

We express through action

Our events are wide-ranging and diverse. They represent our interests, our needs and our desires. We strive to learn, each and every day, thirsty and curious. We're hungry and ambitious, and it's the sharing of knowledge that feeds us.
